Our Flagcorps Story
this will be since day 1 til the awardings. hope you wont get bored.haha lets go!
It was the 3rd week of August at around 9 in the morning. Everyone was excited for our very first practice. It is LHA’s first time to have a team for flagcorps and first time to have an event for the military division. We had 5 girls who were “veterans” at the NSC and 7 first timers in the group. Everything went well for our first practice. Facing, marching, commands, etc. tsss…easy. “kayang-kaya. dali lang pala e.” i never realized i’d be taking that words back. As practices went by, we lost 3 girls and ended up with just 9 of us left. Every week was a struggle. We couldn’t get our routine, some were absent and emotions got in the way. We all had one thing in mind-Quit!!! it was just too much. “pagod na pagod na kami.lets stop this.” was our dialogue almost every practice. 9am-2pm practice, twice a week drained us BIGTIME!
2nd week of October; we didn’t have uniforms yet! we were weeks away from NSC! finally, a week before NSC, we were able to check and fit our uniforms. we thought it was fine already. but no. we had to return it due to some mistakes.
October 28, a day before the flagcorps event we all gathered at the open garden of the hotel for a final practice. it’ll be our first time to practice in uniform and with our flags.(imagine, FIRST practice palang namin yun) we changed from goofing around to being serious.
October 29, 7am, all the girls were running through the hotel’s hallway. we were running late. they thought 9am pa ang flagcorps. no, it was at 7:30! and we weren’t dress yet. haven’t fix our hair and some of us couldn’t find our belts!(tsktsktsk) we were definietly on panic mode. baka ma-difault kami. Finally, thank God, we got there on right on time. they told us to line up and get ready for inspection. the police woman inspected us one by one. asking a really, really bad question that i guess almost all teams didn’t expect, “where is your white hanky?”, “we dont have one, ma’am. none.” i kinda was shaking from head to toe after. after the inspection they announced the schools who will be performing in order. “LHA, pang 4th kayo.” (whew! we’ll be having time to watch the others first.haha)
Fast Forward natin yung story…
Last rally night was finally here! it was time to announce the “on decks” for flagcoprs.after months of training, after all the misunderstandings, after almost quitting and after all the issues and struggles, there we were, “…4th place, Living Heritage Academy-Homeschool!” holding up our banner high, on stage, receiving our medals we were just overflowing with joy. we never imagined to make it to the top six nor ever imagined that we, the flagcorps girls will ever go up on stage. But by God’s grace, we made it! He even gave us a place we never expected to be landing on. truly God is really good. to God be ALL the glory! Lord, this for You! thank you!=)
oh, before i end, just want to thank our #1 fan, sir gid!hahaha!!! salamat, sir sa pagtulong sa amin.=’)
